Hi folks ...
Just installed a new Portal router yesterday (from an Amazon seller) and all seems to be working fine with it so far. Almost immediately parked itself on one of the DFS channels. But does anyone know why the WiFi analyzer apps (checked it on two popular ones) show two SSID beacons for the Portal's 5 GHz WiFi?
They both occupy the same 80 MHz RF channel and fluctuate around each other at the same average signal strength, but one has the SSID name I set, and the other has no name at all.
And just for the heck of it when I try to connect to the nameless signal, it doesn't and just stays connected to the named one.
My best guess is the signal with the no SSID is for Mesh network communication between APs when that option is used. But I'm not sure.
Anyone have any ideas, and is this normal behavior?
That is, while I'm still under warranty from the seller in case something is wrong ... :)
