I am new to the world of Portal, so be gentle please. I live in a large old farmhouse, 2 story, although, 95% of our living is on the 1st floor. just the two of us, my wife and myself. Even though there are only two of us, we have 15 devices connected at any one time (TV's, phones, laptops, etc.). When our children are visiting that number rises significantly. Ever since we "cut the cord" on cable and lost the 'amplified' cable and are now down to 25mb Comcast cable, with 1 Portal (new), it seems like we are dropping the internet more often and losing connection in places where we always had a strong signal before. I'm guessing this is because, (A) we have so many devices connected and (B) we no longer have an amplified cable connection. So, this is a long winded way of asking the community, is it a recommendation to add a second Portal in order to create a mesh network? If the answer is yes, I'll be looking for recommendations on the correct configuration. Thanks in advance for any help.
PS: I referenced 'amplified' cable above. when I cut the Comcast cord, a technician was on site at my house. He de-installed a small device that he called an 'amplifier' that he described as boosting the cable signal to my house. After that was removed is when my troubles began. Just to clarify.
