I was wondering if anyone has ran into issue with the Portal DNS server. It seems as if it is rather unreliable and requires a reboot of every problematic device to fix the issue.
Example of symptoms is that a device name will sometime randomly become unreachable using <device_name>.lan until you reboot the device. Making a DHCP reservation will not keep this behaviour from happening. (Note: I do not believe there is a way to define static DNS but that should not be necessary.)
A way I've found to sometime reproduce this is to "Restart the network" and try to reach random devices once they have reconnected to the network.
I've had many routers in the past (DD-WRT, multiple flavor of Tomato, Turris Omnia/OpenWRT, etc.) and I've never encountered such a flaky implementation and this is a rather big annoyance as my whole network setup is only as reliable as said implementation.
PS: I know I could use the IP address instead but this is merely a workaround the issue mentioned above.
