Will the update be a firmware update to the router and an app update or just the router firmware update?
Any updates on the firmware? seems like 11/29 is over now
Where's the update guys, supposed to be released yesterday 11/29/2016, still see the same firmware version!
Please, please don't go silent. Delays are OK and sometimes unavoidable but they are not acceptable without an explanation. Especially when an expectation hs been set. Thanks

I just updated the app it shows that the changes in the app are
DLNA, UPnP and Https may come in the form of an actual firmware update shortly (hopefully).
Must have been for android only as the last update on the Apple app was November 15th. Doesn't look like the firmware update happened last night; hopefully they will update their timeline and we will get an update next week.
Is the latest firmware 1.4.67_api-1.2.45?
With the features shown in the Android app update, maybe we will get lucky and get both Band Steering and Mesh with the new firmware, where ever it may be! But, "Multiple Portals supported within one mobile app", doesn't necessarily mean Mesh, which I expect to see spelled out.
Well that's disappointing, changed the date of the new firmware release to December 5th, but no explanation as to why?
Seriously. Not only did they push the new firmware update but mesh got pushed back to Dec 16th. Come on, I have a second Portal just waiting to be fired up.
@Vinit- The Apple iOS app was not updated. I am a little disappointed that the firmware updates keep getting pushed back.
Is there going to be a point when you will roll out beta versions for those who are willing to test the firmware updates so you can get real world feedback that will assist you in your roll out process?
I would rather have the Portal firmware move forward instead of just pushed back every week.
Well they dropped the bomb anyway I am sure they are not just pushing it back because they want it, there must be a bug that is preventing them from releasing the firmware. I just hope they release it on the 5th this time
Personally, I would like to see more quality in the feature releases rather than rushing them out the door. We've already seen some half baked features, bugs, and willful lack of explanations (like why do the channels never change if the smart cloud-based traffic analysis is happening). Let's let the developers take a second look at what they're doing before they release the code.
+1 to John Paul's comments...
Any chance of getting WPS even via app control will be nice... I have printer's which need it

Fantastic, I've yet to even see my Portals because I haven't gotten back to the states yet. I'm excited to try both of them out in a Mesh set up this March, by then even more features will be available too. I'm using it for my small business in a multistory home made of thick concrete walls so I'm interested in seeing how they perform. I don't expect they will give a perfect signal throughout but do at least a better job then my current ASUS / TP-Link bridge set up.
I see some of the features that were scheduled to be released in December have now moved to a TBD release. I am beginning to be a bit frustrated (though honestly every single crowd funding project is like this) at this point as the router is still unusable to me until some of the features in the TBD area are released.
I just disconnected my Portal and won't be using it again till it has way more features.
I'll stick with my old Asus RT-AC66U for now. I know this was crowdfunded and all but I really expected a whole lot more features then this.
It is disappointing on a few levels. Especially with Google WiFi w/Mesh out on the 6th with three access points for the same price as my two Portals; one that is still in the box because Mesh isn't ready and the other consistently on Channels 1 and 52 (which may be legit). Three Google WiFis sounds more appealing than two Portals right now. But I'd rather have a good firmware release than a buggy one.
Would love to see router settings backup feature in case a factory reset is required. Setting up portal again would be much faster. (Sadly 3 days is longest I get to use my portal before needing to factory reset)
Android App was updated (1.0.62). Shows Mesh as a new feature in the What's New section. I'm at work so I can't check how it appears in the app at this moment but I am excited to try it out. My 2nd Portal has been chilling in it's box just waiting for the Mesh function to become available. Can't wait to get home and set up my 2nd Portal.
I tried out band steering. Had to switch back to two SSIDs as it slowed down the system and my devices were freezing. I don't believe this is normal....any thoughts Portal?
I got home, connected my 2nd router to my 1st (with Ethernet) added it to the Portal App. It did the mandatory update, but the App does not show any option to add in Mesh. How does this work? I figured you can just plug it in the power cord it then connects to the App (after you've added it into the App) and in the App it gives you the option to add it in Mesh. I'm lost. Anyone know the steps to add the 2nd router in Mesh? Do we have to wait for the Dec 12th update?
Certainly don't want to speak for the company but if I had to guess, I would say that mesh is not active yet and that the verbiage was left in from the original timeline. I suspect that mesh is still due to be released in the Dec 12th release and not this one. Just my thoughts, but I certainly couldn't figure it out.

@dr we just shot a video today on mesh. :)
We will have it up as soon as its ready. Initial mesh support coming in the app as well to prepare for mesh firmware.
So Mesh may sow up as an option in the apps, but it is not yet active. Still on for Monday, if the schedule holds.
Will mesh work with anyone else's implementation? e.g. Google wifi, eero, orbi
I woke up this morning with none of my 3 portals working. Good news is, it appears that the mesh update was rolled out. For those of us with multiple portals already hooked up it requires a hard reset and an ethernet tied into the 2nd or 3rd portals wan port. The portals need to update and once complete, it takes a few minutes to join the mesh network but it worked flawlessly for me. THANK YOU!
WOO HOO! Can't wait to finally set up my second Portal tonight!
